A PERSONALISED EXPERIENCE
At Losokwan Camp, your enjoyment is at the forefront of everything we do, and we offer a completely personalized service. These itineraries have been designed based on our experiences, but if any part of them aren’t exactly as you would like, then we can tailor make them so they are perfectly suited to your personal preferences.
Our driver will meet you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and whisk you across the city to the domestic Wilson Airport. From there it is a jaw-dropping 45 minute flight out to the Lemek Conservancy, the plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve and its great herds of animals revealing themselves below.
You’ll land in the heart of the great Masai Mara, surrounded by wildlife, and hop in one of our custom 4x4 safari jeeps for your very first game drive. On the 30 minute drive to camp keep cameras ready as we pass by herds of lumbering elephants and dainty impala, or catch our first glimpse of one of the region’s famous lions.
You’ll arrive in time for a welcome lunch, after which you can soak up the beautiful, wild and unfenced surroundings of our luxury tented camp in the Masai Mara. In the late afternoon, we’ll set off for a sunset game drive. As the crimson sun drops behind the plains we go in search of the Lemek Conservancy’s famous pride of 15 lions. In this serene and beautiful ecosystem, it is a moving experience to see wildlife in such healthy and abundant numbers. For those hoping to see the Big 5 - lion, leopard, African elephant, black rhino and Cape African buffalo – your chances are high in these thriving, lush lands.
From the comfort of our open-sided, custom-built 4x4 safari land cruiser, enjoy the age-old safari tradition of sipping a sundowner drink as you watch the sun dip below the horizon of the rolling plains and feel the magic of the Masai Mara envelope you. Back at camp it’s time for a hot shower, lavish dinner and an evening spent around a roaring fire.
Your day begins in the calm pre-dawn hours, and you’ll drive out to the balloon’s launch site ready to begin your exhilarating adventure. At this still hour, before the sun has yet risen, the winds are gentle, creating perfect ballooning conditions. You’ll meet your pilot, and watch as the balloon is prepared for take-off, as he explains the safety procedures.
When the time comes to launch you’ll feel the gentle sway of the basket as you rise up into a cloudless sky. The balloon travels at the whims of the breeze, and so each journey is unique and unpredictable. You’ll soar over the plains, watching the sun climb into the sky and stretch its golden fingers across the land. Below you the wildlife can be seen moving slowly across the land, or tearing across it in a blur of dust. For an hour or more, you get to experience the majesty of the Masai Mara from a silent and spell-binding vantage point.
When the balloon lands you’ll be met by your driver and whisked off to enjoy a champagne breakfast prepared specially for you. To dine in luxury in the heart of the bush, surrounded by grazing animals, is a feeling of stepping back to a magical, simpler time of the intrepid explorers.
Spend a relaxing afternoon back at your luxury tented camp in the Masai Mara, making use of your own personal hide from which to watch the wildlife who come into our unfenced grounds, or reading a book in the lounge. As evening descends, you can set off on a guided bushwalk for an intimate encounter with our local wildlife, or sit on the deck with a sundowner and watch the legendary African sun go down. Finish with a delicious dinner and evening spent reliving the wonders of the day around the campfire.
On your third and last day at Losokwan Camp, we rise before dawn, as life in the Masai Mara slowly wakens. After a wake up tea or coffee, you’ll climb into the safari jeep and set off on an early morning game drive. At this magical hour of the day, the plains are starting to wake with the rising sun, and this is prime time to spot predator activity. You’ll be on the lookout for our resident lions, cheetahs, leopards and jackals who hunt in the dawn hours before the heat of the day sets in.
You’ll return to camp for a hearty breakfast, but this isn’t the end of your wildlife encounters. After bidding farewell to Losokwan Camp and its attentive staff, beautiful surroundings and inquisitive wildlife, you’ll drive to the landing strip across the plains of the Masai Mara for one last game drive.
Once back at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, our guide will meet you and transfer you to the international airport for your flight home or, if you have a later flight, you can spend the day exploring fascinating, vibrant Nairobi. We can arrange a variety of activities for you including visits to;
